Wednesday

Yesterday's trip to the nursery was successful. It turned out to be a lovely lady in her first year of trading and the 'nursery' was her back garden, but she had a good choice of healthy looking plants. I came away with three pots (9 plants) of dwarf cosmos, 16 taller cosmos, and 5 osteospurmum plants, all for £15.

In future years I'll have a lot more cosmos but this is enough for the pots I have. I'll buy some more pots in the autumn sales but don't want to rush to buy any at the moment. I didn't get round to planting them yesterday as it started drizzling but I've spoken to Danielle and she will see to them on Tuesday ... they'll be fine till then.

Today it's housework this morning, finishing off what I started on Monday. I also have a couple of loads of washing to do, and want to rearrange the freezers before the supermarket delivery this afternoon.

I'm hoping to go over to the marina or the canal for my walk but it'll depend on the weather. Yesterday was dull and drab with light rain on and off throughout the day, so if today turns out to be the same I'll be staying indoors and doing a YouTube video instead.

The only other must do is some piano practice. I haven't been successful in finding a local teacher so will wait until September to see if there are any vacancies after the children have signed up for lessons for the new academic year before I decide what to do about it.

    1. Her business has been badly affected by the lockdown and she's just trying to sell all the annuals and at least break even. This was the last of her stock of cosmos otherwise I'd have bought more. This will add some colour for now.

  4. Those are some nice looking plants and it sounds like you got a good bargain. My osteospermum plants are on their way out. Spring is the time for them in my garden.

Hope you got your housework done, freezers organized, received the delivery of your groceries without any issues, and were able to go for a walk. Waiting till September to start piano lessons sounds like the right decision. Have a lovely day, Eileen.

    1. Yes, I need lucky. The plants are in good condition and it was definitely a bargain price.

The housework did get done, freezers sorted and delivery received. No walk as it's cold and wet, so I did an exercise video at home instead.

I don't really know what will happen about the piano lessons. For the time being I will carry on teaching myself and see how it goes.

Hope you have a good day too xx

  7. I love cosmos and grow it from seed. My dwarf cosmos was very successful this year but the Sonata mix was terrible. I have never grown such pathetic plants!

  8. The cosmos are lovely! I think I need to see what kinds of dwarf cosmos are available here for next year. We haven't had rain in a while. It rains all around us but not here.
