13/365: decluttering - collectables, instruments & craft supplies

This is what I'm working on at the moment. The three instruments on the right (2 cornets and a clarinet) will be dealt with last as I've given the children in the family one last chance to have them if they are interested. The black case in the centre is a recorder case (to hold several different sized recorders at once) and will sell easily - there are a couple of adult recorder groups in Bath so I will email them to see if anyone is interested but it there are no takers, I'll advertise on eBay. The large box in the front and the stack of plastic boxes are filled with card making supplies, stamps, punches, ribbons, tools etc., and that's what I'm busy photographing at the moment. I haven't decided whether to sell it all in one go or as small lots - I'll check eBay to see what people are paying and then decide. The small box on the top contains collectables so today's task is to pack the contents of that box properly and send it off for a valuation. G (hairdresser) may have found someone to take the piano off my hands ... I texted the dimensions to her yesterday and am waiting to hear back, so fingers crossed.

I'll be easing back a little on the decluttering for a while. I intend to do something to clear the piles of items on most days but I also have things in the diary so I need to strike that happy balance between socialising, home, and decluttering. It's the Indian cookery at 1pm (today's recipe is Rajasthani Aloo) so I will be home by then, but this morning am hoping to tick off one of the items on my 'adventures' list. The local museum was completely refurbished during lockdown so seeing the new set up and taking advantage of the workshops and exhibitions they run is on the list. This time it's an exhibition of work by one of the local camera clubs so something I'm sure to enjoy. I'll treat myself to a drink and cake while I'm there as well. I received a book token at Christmas, or it might have been birthday, so will call in Waterstones on the way back to the car if I have time ... I never like to rush the enjoyment of choosing new books!

Tonight H has arranged a Zoom meeting when we'll be deciding on the next stage of her photo project.

    1. I hadn't thought about it that way, so thanks for pointing it out. When all of this has gone there will actually be spaces in most cupboards which I'm determined to avoid filling! xx

  4. Your decluttering is ever so neatly organized. If only the great pond wasn't between us, I'd have a peek inside the card making boxes & offer!!! Enjoy your outing & oh to be choosing a new book ... we could make cards for that event to congratulate people (col).

    1. I'm turning into a neat freak, which is a bit worrying. I'd love you to have the crafting stuff ... would you consider a house move and relocation or is that asking too much? 😂 xx

  5. Well done on all the decluttering, Eileen! I think you are reaching your goal of being decluttered, once and for all! I hope everything will sell and you'll get your asking price. I haven't tackled any of my crafting supplies to see what can be decluttered! But, I know that there are some items that can go! I like the fact that you are trying to maintain a balance between decluttering, home, socializing, etc. That is important, isn't it? Hope you are having a wonderful day, today.

    1. Thanks Bless. It hasn't been that good a day and I didn't do most of the things I planned but I finished on a high ... G, my hairdresser has found someone to take the piano once the new one is delivered. That's a huge relief ☺️

  6. My comment from this morning seemed to disappear into the ether. All I wanted to say was how well you are doing with the decluttering. I hope you enjoyed the museum and bookshop visits.

    1. Thanks Eileen. I'm getting there with the decluttering. The piano will be taken by my hairdresser's friend so that's the biggest problem solved. I had to change my plans so the museum and bookshop will be tomorrow's activity now. xx

  7. You have done really well on the decluttering but it does sometimes take a lot of time and energy, especially if you are listing and selling.

    1. It always takes longer than I think so I'm aiming to list at least one thing every day as a minimum, more if I can.
