A New Piano!

8/365: nemesia ... a summer annual, still going strong

I've placed the order for my new piano, a Kawai CA99! There's limited stock in the country with a huge question mark hovering over the issue of replacement stock so, as I've set my heart on having this particular model I decided to buy without trying it out first. That's not as risky as it sounds as the purchase is covered by an online sales agreement so can be returned within 14 days if necessary. I'm not anticipating any issues though, so although not ideal, it's better than travelling up to Liverpool to try it out.

I'm still waiting to agree a delivery date but, all being well, it should be here in about a fortnight. I have somehow got free delivery, which is a saving of £175 on what I was expecting to pay so I used that to buy an extended warranty. In the end I didn't accept their quotes for part-exchanging my instruments as I knew I could realise a better price elsewhere so instead I used the money I had set aside for other things (a holiday adventure new clothes, and a new camera) and will have to pay myself back over the next few months. I'll now carry on and sell the unwanted instruments locally.

I don't want to leave it to the last minute so I will make a start on clearing the music room ready for the delivery. The current piano will be the last thing to move out of the room but it breaks down in two parts so doesn't take up too much room when dismantled and I will see if anyone will take it off my hands for spares. It can't go until I know the delivery date for the replacement as I don't want to miss any lessons if I can avoid it. I also want to find somewhere else for the Disney and Doctor Who biscuit jars that currently live on the top of the piano and there are some piles of music books to move out of the way ... not much to do but I may be rather excited so I'll get on with it as that will obviously make the piano arrive sooner, won't it! 😉

  1. Woo hoo! Congratulations on getting your new piano, early, and without delivery charges, too! Well done! I'm glad you were able to switch funds around to make it happen and I hope that you will love it when it arrives. :) I can feel the excitement in your post and, yes, getting the music room ready will definitely make the piano arrive sooner! At least, that's what happened with me, when I was expecting my daughter! I thought I had plenty of time, my mother insisted on getting things ready early, and baby arrived 6 weeks early!

    1. I can't see any reason why I won't love it. I already know it has the functionality I want and the touch and feel of the action will definitely be better than what I already have so I'm sure I'll love it, but it's reassuring to know that I'm covered by the sales agreement and can return it if necessary.

I've made a start on clearing out the room so I'm glad for reassurance that this will make it arrive earlier. 😊

  3. Excellent news! You seem to have done really well and that 'satisfaction' cover is reassuring, isn't it? And wow - big saving on delivery!
Regarding getting the room ready. all I can say is if you don't, it's almost sure to arrive before you are ready for it!!! Sorry! :-)

    1. Yes, I was surprised that it was free delivery because it needs a specialist piano delivery service which isn't cheap.

I'm clearing out the room today, or making a start at least. It's a small room so needs to be empty when the new piano arrives. xx
