25/365: behind the garage

It felt like a Saturday all day yesterday and my mind was telling me it was the weekend, so motivating myself to get on with the decluttering was a challenge! In the end, after some expert level procrastination, I did make a start and posted the parcels to family, placed a couple of adverts, and collected all the sheet music together ready to sort it out today. There's a maximum weight for the Oxfam parcels so today's job is to weigh the music, pack into suitable sized parcels, and print the labels ready for posting later in the week.

The old piano is still here so I will be able to do some more practice today ... thankfully, as I haven't done well with this week's pieces! They've promised to collect it tonight as originally arranged so fingers crossed that they do turn up!

Before all of that it's the fun part of the day. I'm seeing Joy again this morning, at her home this time, so a great start to the day. After we've put the world to rights, I'm off to Currys to look at the tablet I like the look of, the Microsoft Surface Go, and on the way will drop of my old artificial Christmas tree to a couple who are collecting unwanted trees for their charity display in December.

  1. It sounds a really lovely day. An A* for procrastinating, eh? Join the club. :-)
Have a lovely time with Joy. Maybe, one day, it will be this Joy for a meet up . . .

    xx

    1. Yes, definitely an A* for procrastinating ... I was impressed with my creative approach to avoid doing the tasks I needed to get on with!

I had a lovely time with Joy and yes, I do hope we'll be able to meet up one day. xx

  2. My fingers will be crossed for you that the piano is collected tonight. That's good that your old Christmas tree can be made use of and I hope the tablet suits your needs. Ever since my son introduced me to Apple I wouldn't have anything else now but I do know they cost an arm and a leg!

    1. I'm keeping my fingers crossed too! I'll have to move the old piano to the living room if they do let me down, but I'm feeling positive so am sure it'll all work out properly.

I'm buying the new tablet primarily for the music lessons so am better off using a Windows operating system as the music lesson software is designed for that platform. Also my music publishing software won't work on Apple products, so as I don't want to replace all the software as well, I've ordered a Surface Go. Apple products are lovely to use but I'm too far down the Microsoft road to change now.

  3. Behind the garage looks good. It reminds me of a meditation garden - a quiet place to sit and ponder. Enjoy your visit with Joy and the piano practicing before the piano is collected. Have a lovely day, Eileen.

    1. It is planned as a quiet place to sit and ponder at least at the start and end of the days - it's too hot to sit there in the afternoon on a sunny day.

I had a good time seeing Joy this morning and have emptied the music room ready for the piano to be moved out later on. I'm just waiting for the new owner to arrive now!

  4. I have fingers & toes crossed that the old, well loved, piano leaves for it's new adventures as promised. I do hope that donating your Christmas tree counts as success in decluttering. It is always my biggest stumbling block in the decluttering to find homes for my donations as I just don't like giving it away to one of our business recycle centres. I'm always suspect of what they really return to the community in aid. I hope Joy has some biscuits or cake on offer ... just a little nibble.

    1. I'm waiting patiently for the new owner to collect it!

Yes, the Christmas tree and the old piano both count towards the decluttering. They're both going to people who want to use them themselves, so I'm happy to let them go.

No biscuits or cakes for me ... I back on the healthy eating plan, so no sugar for now!

  5. I love that blue bench you have in your garden. I would spend hours on end sitting there, enjoying the sun... :)

    1. It's too hot to sit there on a sunny afternoon but early morning or early evening it's perfect. I don't like sitting in the sun!!

    1. Yes, it's been a good day. The old piano has been collected and the carrier has confirmed delivery of the new one tomorrow so it's all going to plan at the moment 😊
