24/365: another view of the back garden, looking towards the house
(the house isn't really that wonky, I just wasn't holding the phone upright!)

It looks like the fencing will be replaced next month, so good timing for both households and means it'll be in position before the new growth and this year's new planting. Taking the two photos (yesterday and today) has given me the opportunity to see how it all looks and think about what changes I want to make, but more of that in another post when I've finalised my plans. All I know for sure is that the new arches will be bought and installed as soon as I can afford them - they'll go where the smaller group of pots are, on the right of the photo.

There's nothing in the diary for today, so I'll get back to the decluttering. This week I want to place the adverts for at least the next five biggest items, pack up another parcel for Vintage Cash Cow, and post the parcels destined for Ced's family. I also want to deal with the rest of the sheet music; I've discovered that you can print labels to send items to Oxfam post free which is the charity I want to use for the music and they will resell it in the specialist music shops.

I do need to do some extra piano practice today as there's a possibility that the old piano may be collected tonight instead of tomorrow!

  1. I think if you put the arches where you say it will look AMAZING! It sounds like you have a packed day even though you have nothing 'official' so good luck.

    1. That's the plan, and I'll grow a white flowering climber and a pink climbing rose on the arches. I just have to recover from the piano purchase and then I'll think about ordering the arches.

I done lots of bitty little things today but at least have ticked some things off the list.

    1. Hopefully, this week's efforts will see quite a bit of stuff leaving the house but there's always the danger that I'll get distracted when my new piano arrives, so time will tell! xx

  3. Your garden will look super with new fencing in place and that's good it will be replaced before Spring. Good news the old piano may be collected this evening, fingers crossed for you.

    1. Thanks Eileen. The timing couldn't be better really, and hopefully I'll have time to sort the patio (power wash and grouting) before we start thinking about the annuals.

I hope they do turn up to collect the piano tonight but I have tomorrow in reserve if they don't.

  4. The garden looks good from this angle, too! I'm looking forward to seeing how it will look with the new fencing and the arches, once you put them in. :) Sounds like you'll have a busy day, even if there's nothing in the diary for today. Having the old piano picked up a day earlier than planned might work out well, as it'll give you a little extra time to get the room ready for the new piano. Hope your knee is doing well and you have a lovely day.

    1. Thanks Bless. It should all look very different if I can afford to make all the changes I have planned.

I've made a bit of progress on the decluttering but have spent most of my time trying to sort out this week's piano pieces, which aren't going well - if they do collect the piano tonight I won't be able to practice again until the new one arrives late of Wednesday and the lesson is early on Thursday.

My knee is almost back to normal now, thanks.

  5. It sounds like you're really coming along with the decluttering! I haven't made much of a dent, sadly. I like the views of your garden. Looks like you have so many wonderful plants. I hope you'll be photographing them as they grow - would make for a lovely project!

    1. I tend to have ups and downs with the decluttering and am currently on an up, so hopefully I will be able to get a lot more things disposed of this week. You'll get there, Sharon. It's not easy but if you keep chipping away at it, you will see results.

Yes, I will definitely be photographing the garden this year.

  6. A new fence will be a nice spiff-up for the garden, and a new piano a nice spiff-up for your musical endeavors. Good things abound!

  7. Such lovely views of your garden & still a lot of plant interest in the winter. Your well thought out plans & work with M have paid off. Fingers crossed that all those items sell & the arches can be installed sooner than later. Enjoy the good bye play on your piano.

    1. I'm pleased with how well the planning has worked. Once the arches are in (eventually) we'll play a game of musical pots and change things round, so by the end of the year it should look very different.

  8. Sometimes the day you have nothing in your diary becomes the busiest one.

I'm sure your garden will look wonderful in spring.

    1. I've spent most of the day playing the piano. I've made some progress on the decluttering front but not as much as I'd have like to do.

There's lots of signs of new growth, so it should look good when Spring arrives to cheer us all up.
