14/365: raindrops

I'm putting yesterday behind me and carrying on! Anything that could go wrong chose yesterday as the day for demonstrating just how wrong it could go, nothing serious I hasten to add, just one thing after another and mostly initiated by other people. Frustratingly, the only thing I managed was the Indian cookery but the museum trip and Zoom photography both had to be rescheduled.

So the museum trip is back on for today, fingers crossed. I'm seeing J for coffee so will go earlier to see the photography exhibition before we meet up ... looking around the museum displays following the refurbishment can wait for another day. We do have a tendency to lose track of time while we're together but hopefully I'll be able to fit in a bit of book shopping afterwards.

I've made a bit more progress on the decluttering. The collectables have all been bubble wrapped and boxed so are ready to be sent off to the Vintage Cash Cow to see how much they will offer me for them and I'll go to the Post Office either today or tomorrow to send those packages on their way. I've also carried on photographing the craft goodies, which is proving to be more of an effort that it should be due to the lower light level indoors at this time of year ... trying to photograph shiny items using flash is a challenge I could do without! One bit of good news though is that G, my hairdresser, has found someone to have to old piano, which is a huge relief.

The number of Covid cases in this area continue to rise and I find it impossible not to feel anxious about it especially as hearing that people I know have tested positive, or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive, now seems to be a daily occurrence. I still haven't heard back from the organiser of the Italian conversation group so I have decided to put it on the back burner for now and see what the local situation is after Easter. There are other options for improving this aspect of learning so I will start looking to see which, if any, will suit my learning style.

Reading back through this post I think it sounds a bit negative so I'll finish by assuring you that I am feeling fine emotionally. The cancellations and disappointments are very much part of life at present for everyone so I'll just pick myself up and try again!

  1. (((HUGS))) Eileen; I'm very sorry that things went so wrong, yesterday, but, I'm glad it wasn't anything major and you will reschedule some of your planned activities. Wonderful news that G has, once again, found someone to take another of your items - the piano, this time! Well done, G!
We've had over 45,000 new Covid cases in our county (Los Angeles County). My cousins invited me to visit and have dinner with them and I very politely declined!

    1. Thanks Bless. Today is proving to be much the same but it hasn't affected me so much this time. It's more frustrating than anything. G is absolutely brilliant and is now trying to sell a few more things for me!

That is a lot of new cases so I'm not surprised you declined the invite. The numbers in this area are only a quarter of yours but are so much higher than during the lockdowns so it's a worry.

  2. It's hard not to feel down right now so no need to apologise and I'm sorry things didn't go to plan yesterday. Try again with the museum visit and I hope that goes well today and enjoy your coffee and chat. Good news that your old piano will be collected, your hairdresser is a star.

    1. I'm more cheerful today ... mugs of hot chocolate are good for cheering me up! Today is proving to be just as frustrating but I'm more able to go with the flow today even though everything is up in the air as I wait for a parcel delivery.

G really is a star and it's such a relief to know the piano has a new home to go to.

  3. I call them 'high gravity days' when things fall, are knocked or are dropped no matter what you do - they're exhausting. But at least you got good news about the piano. Hope you stay safe. Hugs x

    1. That's a great description and sums up that sort of day perfectly. It's brilliant news about the piano and one less thing to worry about. xx

  4. Great news that you have so quickly found someone to take the piano - heavy exhale of relief. I often find it's the niggly things that weigh me down more that the major upsets; it's like that annoying flying insect buzzing around, you know you are bigger & mightier but oh my the constant buzzing.

Yes, I would consider a location move ... we talked yesterday about the huge (positive) difference between here & there (Britain) Mr Man is very heavily invested in watching vlogs about canal boat life - he's smitten (col).

    1. G has all the credit for finding someone to take the piano. I am so relieved because there simply isn't space for two pianos in this house!

It's been a couple of frustrating days (today is just as bad!) but today I'm doing better at just going with the flow.

Do you read Hard Up Hester's blog? She lives in a canal boat and lovely as it is, it's also very hard work.

  6. You are doing a great job with decluttering. What a good seller your hairdresser is!
Here there has also been a huge increase in Covid cases and apart from going to work, I don't leave home so I understand very well how you feel...
I hope today you are having a better day :)

    1. Thanks Irune, and yes, my hairdresser is doing so well. So far she has sold the three biggest items for me.

I'm sorry to hear that you have a increase of Covid cases in your area. It feels never ending, doesn't it?

Today hasn't gone well so far but I'm doing better emotionally so all is good. xx

The piano is going to one of G's friends who is excited about being the new owner.
