Time Flies ... It's Monday Again!

attempting granny squares today!

It was a busy Saturday but a quiet Sunday. Saturday I had my piano lesson, popped into Aldi on the way home to pick up a few extras including chicken drumsticks to try Bless' chicken curry, took one load to the recycling yard and arrived back to see I'd had a delivery of some odds and ends of wool for me to practice with. Sunday was mostly spent reading, playing the piano, and watching TV ... currently enjoying Dancing on Ice and The Great Pottery Throw Down.

Today should be a nice calm day and if I pace myself properly, I should get a fair bit done. On the list for this week there's the storage jars to sort out, the final load to take to the recycling yard, general household chores and some batch cooking for a friend. Hopefully I can get most of that done today, leaving just the cooking for later in the week once my friend has supplied me with all of the ingredients.

The new yarn group starts on Wednesday so I want to have a go at producing a granny square today, so if I get stuck I can ask Joy when I see her tomorrow. I'm still struggling with a right handed approach so will be attempting to crochet left handed today to see if that makes it any easier ... that's not quite as odd as it sounds as I used to swap between left and right hands for writing until the school teacher forced me to only use my right hand, and there are other things I always use my left hand for, so maybe I will become evident that I am a left handed crocheter at heart!

  1. Time does indeed fly - It is crazy how January has just disappeared! Good luck with the Granny square - trying it left handed sounds like a very good idea. xx

    1. It's strange, isn't it? Day by day, January always seems like a long month and each day seems to drag on and on, but looking back the month has flown by. January always feel like that to me, the poor light levels don't help.

The granny square is a work in progress. I have arthritis in my hands and crochet aggravates it. Nothing feels right at the moment but I'm not giving up. xx

  2. My brother is left handed and he taught me how to knit when we were children, my mum always said I knit cack-handed, and she is right. I have tried over the years to correct my knitting, but never got the hang of it.

    1. My mum and my sister always say that my attempts at knitting are cack-handed and my attempts at crochet definitely are. Maybe I should stick to sewing! xx

  3. Hard to believe it's the end of January already. I'm right handed but i seems so wrong to force a left handed person to use their right hand only. I hope you successfully master crocheting which ever way you are most comfortable..

    1. At least I feel like I've achieved a lot in January so I don't feel to down about reaching the end of the month already. I just did as I was told but looking back I realise that there was no reason to stop me using both hands and that the teacher actually did me a disservice. Sadly I'm not mastering crochet so far but will keep trying! xx

  4. Sounds like a lovely flow of things for the coming week. I read that you sold all the stuff you recently sent to the dealer - yeah to the camera fund growing. While crocheting left handed, just remember you are in your right mind (col).

    1. I have a nice mix of social, chores, and fun times during this week ... it should all work out nicely. I currently have about half the money I need for my new camera so hoping I'll have enough by Easter.
Am I ever in my right mind though? Some of my friends would dispute that 😂xx

    1. I did my first granny square today, well part of it anyway. It was much easier being shown what to do! xx

  6. I am late with my comments today. But, I hope your Monday went well and you accomplished at least some, if not most, of what you wanted to do. Hope you are able to crochet without having pain in your hands from the arthritis.

    1. I think I will always have to take regular breaks when crocheting as my hands were painful after about 30 minutes. Still, that's better than not being able to do it at all isn't it? xx
