Monthly Photo Challenge | The Letter 'A'
Here are my choices for the August photo challenge - things beginning with the letter A.
A is for apples |
pointing to an A on the piano keyboard |
an autograph - this is Eric Morecambe of Morecambe & Wise fame who signed twice because the pen ran out of ink |
ancestors, part of Ced's family tree |
the As on the die in a game of Word Yatzee |
my mum's treasured apple glass |
apple shaped glass paperweights |
The challenge is to take photos on the set theme; the photos must be taken during the month (no archive photos), a minimum of five photos but no upper limit, and there will be a new theme every month. The theme for September is 'green'. Have fun!
You are quite welcome to join me in this challenge if you want to ... the more the merrier!
Oooh! Really well done. Great finds, clever ideas and great photos as always! I love the A on the keyboard idea! Autograph is also clever- when did you meet the great man? Did he chat?
ReplyDeleteI drafted my post yesterday but I want to try and retake one of the pics in better conditions tomorrow, if poss. Needless to say I've gone a bit bonkers but I'm happy with my finds, except that some of them reflect the dreary weather we've been having of late, so the overall effect isn't as bright as I'd have liked. Anyway it's been great fun, and really helped to keep me positive these last few weeks, so thank you and I'm definitely in for "green"!
We met Morecambe & Wise in 1964 when we were living in Torquay. They must have been on at the theatre but we saw them when they opened a fete. I went up to Eric Morecambe with my autograph book and he signed it twice (because of the pen problem) and while he was looking at the book, my identically dressed twin sister came and stood next to me. When he looked back at me he did a double take and that thing he did with his glasses, and said to Ernie Wise, "look Ern, I signed twice and now there's two of them!". Ernie Wise said, "Let me try and see if I can do it too". So he signed our books while Eric watched to see what happened but of course nothing did. They handed our books back and Eric told Ernie that if course it wouldn't work because he'd only done one signature in each book and you had to sign twice in the one book to make it work!
DeleteGlad you're enjoying the challenge. I thought of you when I decided on green!
What a lovely story and memory! I'm so glad they were kind and approachable! Part of a lost generation. (Don't suppose you ever met the Two Ronnies, did you!)
DeleteGreen! Well, as you know, I don't usually take much notice of it but I'll try and pay attention next month. G is already aware, (and probably quite pleased to see the back of A at this stage 🤣)
Yes, we (Ced and me) met the Two Ronnies just before Ronnie Barker retired. Both lovely men, and very very funny. We chatted for about fifteen minutes. We also met Roy Hudd and Eric Sykes.
DeleteWow wow wow! I LOVE(D) the Two Ronnies, especially Barker! I saw (but didn't chat to) Corbett, some years after B had already died. He did a lovely reading in a concert my dad was performing in. Dad had a few words. Mrs C was hanging round, and was rather protective.
DeleteGreat photos! I really liked the A on the keyboard! Very clever! :) I want to take one or two more photos before I finish my post.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bless. I found it harder to find A photos than I thought I would, so a lot of creative thinking was needed!
DeleteA is for awesome! This looks like so much fun. Can I still join in for August if I get photos up in the next two days?
ReplyDeleteYes of course you can. There's no firm date for posting your photos so if it runs into the first week of September, that's fine. I look forward to seeing your photos.
DeleteGreat! I'll see what I can come up with or maybe will just jump in for September :)
DeleteThat's fine, whatever suits you best. xx
DeleteReally clever photos. My mind went blank - all I could think of was apples and avocados. Now it's too late I can think of loads!

Thanks Joy. It's not too late if you still want to join in (see my response to the previous comment). It doesn't matter of you can't find five photos, just take what you can.
DeleteNice photos, Eileen. I too like the A on the keyboard. And your mom's apple glass is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to participating in the next one too. :)
The apple glass is part of a set. There's a pear on the other glass and a bunch of grapes on the jug, all hand painted specially for my mum.
DeleteIt's great to have you joining in with us. xx
They are all good and you have given them some thought. Yes the A key is a clever one.
