This Week ...

... the weather forecast is promising rain on most days so it's going to be another 'at home' week.

Entertainment & Socialising

I haven't made any arrangements to meet up so will catch up with friends through phone calls.

Online Classes & Talks

  • Tuesday: a talk/exercise class combo led by Wayne Sleep
  • Wednesday: Nutrition Club
  • Thursday: Indian Cooking
  • Friday: Nutrition Focus
the Tai Chi classes aren't on as the instructor is on holiday so I will continue with my daily practice using the practice video

Health and Fitness:

Daily: a 30 minute walk, 30 minutes of Tai Chi, and 20 minutes of knee strengthening exercises.

The extra for this week is the ballet type exercises in the Wayne Sleep class.

Home and Garden

Home: I've started a month long decluttering challenge - to remove a minimum of 31 items from the house during August - and I still have some other mini decluttering projects in progress that I want to finish. I need to chase up the quotes for the photography equipment and also pack and post some of the collections of smaller items I've sold. The majority of the week will be dedicated to photographing items and placing adverts on eBay and Gumtree, and requesting quotes for other collections. I will also have a donation box for the charity shop so that I can find one item every day to meet my challenge total.

Garden: Apart from keeping up with the deadheading and watering as needed, there's not much to do in the garden except sit back and enjoy it ... so that's what I'll do. M has set me the task of choosing some taller plants to fill out the biggest flower bed and introduce some different shapes and height, but I won't be buying any more plants until next year.

Food: I'll be food shopping later this week, mostly for the fresh fruit and veg. The subject for discussion in the nutrition club on Wednesday is meal planning and I'm interested to pick up any tips I can. The meal planning is getting easier but I think there is room for improvement!

End of Lockdown Adventures

  • this week: a photo walk
  • by the end of August: visit the Wilts Local History Centre (providing there are slots available), and visit Caen Hill Locks
  • within twelve months: complete a minimum of twelve items on my post lockdown wish list, aiming to complete at least one thing on the list in August. Possibilities for August include:
    • a trip to the beach
    • visit The Hawk Conservancy
    • visit Avebury or Stonehenge
    • visit another National Trust property (but haven't decided which one yet!)
but as it is the school holidays, all of these places are likely to be busy so I may need to rethink.

and finally, Hobbies:

Reading: I need to choose a new book

Italian: 15 - 20 minutes daily practice

Piano: 30 minutes daily practice

also spend some more time on the Family Tree, and fit in a couple of photo walks.

  1. I haven't looked at the weather forecast for the week but it's definitely not looking promising. I was wet through yesterday morning out walking the puppy but at least I've bought her a coat to wear. Yes, back to wearing a hat and coat for me too and we're in August! You seem to have plenty to keep you occupied at home and some good phone chats with friends to look forward to. Have a good week.

    1. Thanks Eileen. It's cooler but dry today (Tuesday) but rained for a good part of yesterday and it's difficult to know what to wear. I'm trying to avoid putting the heating on but my living room is a cold room so I'm spending my time huddled under a blanket! Hope you have a good week too x

  2. I'm rather a fan of Wayne Sleep - I bet the class is very interesting (not to mention challenging).
It's odd how clutter seems to reproduce all by itself, isn't it. You just think you're getting there and there's another pile growing.

    1. The Wayne Sleep class is interesting - part ballet exercise, part ballet speaking gestures (we're learning the conversation gestures that are at the start of Copelia), and part Wayne talking about his experiences. I like him and his enthusiasm.

Piles of clutter seem to breed without any help from me. I don't know how they do it 😂😂😂

  3. The weather again! What a summer! At least you have plenty of planned activities to have a nice week at home. Enjoy it!

    1. The week hasn't quite started as planned but I have plenty to look forward to and will enjoy the solitude after yesterday's migraine. I hope you have a good week too xx

  4. Lots of busy plans for the week & it seems like you're already off to a good start with the August De-clutter challenge. I'll check our Wayne Sleep, so thanks for the link. The weather is playing its part for your after theatre isolation :)

    1. I'm in the right mindset to do some decluttering so, health permitting, I will get to the stage where the music room is cleared by the end of this month. That's the target anyway.
I challenged Bless but it seems that a lot are interested so I may make this a regular thing, maybe four times a year.

The Wayne Sleep class is via Goldster. The link is to his website.

I'm happy to have a week at home following my theatre trip though the weather is helping as I doubt I'd want to go out anyway!

  6. You have some good plans for the week. :) You'll have plenty to keep you occupied and I really like your end of lockdown adventures for August. It was 102F (38.8 C according to the online converter) here, today. I am trying to decide if I should make the zucchini chutney today or tomorrow! :)

    1. The weather will have to improve before I can do some of my adventures though ... keeping my fingers crossed for next week. It's only 18C here (64.4F) at the moment so I am quite happy to stay at home where it's warmer.

I don't think I'd want to be making chutney in that heat so good luck if you decide to go ahead.
