56/365: blue sky and fluffy clouds, taken between showers

As lazy days go, yesterday was definitely a 10! I commented on a few blogs, had a go at the online puzzles I like, watched the Indian cookery class and that was it. Nothing productive at all and I didn't even do any piano or Italian practice either. I've no idea why, but it's a new day and there are some 'must do without fail' task on the list for today.

For starters I have to accept the quote for the patio work and then play a quick game of financial musical chairs to move the money around to pay for it. I also need to change my booking at the local Records Office - I didn't get my first choice of date and the one I've been allocated doesn't work that well for me. The biggie is that I need to reorder my repeat prescriptions but they have to reviewed before a new prescription can be issued so I need to see my doctor, which is easier said than done. Last time I tried to get an appointment I waited in the telephone queue for over an hour and ended up getting cut off without speaking to anyone. It'll be interesting to see if the GP surgeries return to pre-pandemic arrangements now that the governments have relaxed all Covid restrictions, or whether the restricted access will continue.

The only other 'must do' is to catch up with the Italian and piano practices and there's also the nutrition class focusing on hungry hormones and cravings.

  1. You had a much nicer day than we did here. Such a glorious sky!

The whole GP situation is ridiculous - like you, I hope it goes back to what it was. Not perfect by any means, but an awful lot better than what we have now.
    xx

    1. I think we got off lightly with the weather yesterday. There was quite a bit of rain but the promised sleet/snow didn't happen, thankfully.

I have the awful feeling that the GP service will continue as it is now and that it won't return to how it was. I am concerned that the checks that I used to be told had to be done quarterly without fail are now only done annually. How can that be right? xx

  2. I don't understand how if we have to learn to live with the virus just like winter 'flu then why aren't doctors allowing us back in their surgeries as normal. That's shocking having to wait in a telephone queue for over an hour only to be cut off without speaking to anyone. I hope you manage to get an appointment for your review. What happens here is I order my husband's prescriptions online once a month, then every six months without fail they get rejected so I phone up to ask them to accept the request which they do without even seeing him, it's crazy and wrong!

    1. I think that the current restrictions at the surgeries cuts out a lot of the time wasters and no shows for appointments, and from the surgery's point of view that has to allow a better use of their services and time. I had to wait for 75 minutes on the phone queue today but I have got an appointment for the bloods and BP check to start the medication review, and they have issued a month's supply of all the tablets so that I don't run out. I still don't have an appointment to see my doctor though!

  3. Sounds like you had a lovely, relaxing day, yesterday. We need a day like that, every now and then! Hope you get through to your doctor's office without any difficulties, this time, and get your prescriptions filled. Hope you are able to accomplish your other tasks, too. Have a lovely day, Eileen. :)

    1. I did thanks Bless and I felt much better today as a result. It wasn't without difficulties but I did get an appointment for the bloods and BP check which my doctor needs to be able to review my medication so that's progress! I completed my list so I can have a quiet weekend now, although I may carry on with clearing the pots if it doesn't rain. Hope you have a lovely day too x

  4. Oh I vote for more 10 rated days! I'll speak quickly to the weather; it's more snow for us (lol, not lol). Thankfully for 90% of prescription renewals, our pharmacies send in the request to the doctor's office, patients do not need to call the doctor. It would only be necessary to involve the patient & doctor if the prescription was suppose to be something that worked with the first run of medication but didn't. It saves a lot of bother. For one Mr Man's monthly eye prescriptions, the doctor put 35 repeats on the initial order. I think I inherited hungry hormones from both parents! arrivederci

    1. Our repeat prescriptions don't have that many repeats authorised. It used to be 2 repeats, each for 2 months supply, was approved and then I had to see the doctor to get it reviewed and a new repeat prescription issued. This was increased to 6 repeats at the start of the first lockdown. I've had all my repeats from the last prescription so now I have see the doctor to get the next one authorised. I have to have blood tests and BP checks before it can be authorised.

I've decided that I have hungry hormones too x

  5. I was wondering how you all would fare now that restrictions have been dropped. Enjoy the return to normal however that progresses for you.

Glad you had a "10" day, and even those days of checking off all the "must dos" can rate pretty high if they free up your mind so it filled with nothing but blue sky thoughts.

    1. I'm not too happy that all the restrictions have been dropped in this way. I think it should have been phased and that isolating should remain a legal requirement for people who test positive, but it is what it is and so I will continue to take precautions and will continue with a relatively cautious return to normal life.

I'm focusing on dealing with only important tasks and dealing with those things I have been tolerating but which get me down. It honestly does make a big difference to how I feel ... blue sky thoughts sums it up perfectly.

  6. You deserve a quiet day now and again. Getting a doctor's appointment is a day's work itself

    1. Thanks Lyssa. I feel sorry for anyone suffering from depression or stress related illnesses as the difficulty in getting an appointment must have a negative impact on their well being. Thankfully, I'm in a position to be able to wait in a phone queue for over an hour but I don't know how people manage when they are at work.
