Friday 4th February
35/365: Any ideas what this plant is, please? I don't recognise the leaves and it's tiny, as you can see compared to the size of the gravel |
Yesterday was just as good as Wednesday. I did my Italian practice and piano practice first thing, started tidying and sorting in the kitchen, and then settled down to watch the Indian cookery class. In celebration of the Lunar New Year the recipe was an Indo Chinese dish - Spicy Paneer Vegetable Hakka Noodles. I didn't see all of the class but watched enough to know that I'd like to try the recipe so have added it to my 'culinary travels' folder.
I missed the end of the class because L managed to get away from her work on time and turned up on my doorstep wanting her lunch. She stayed for almost three hours and we had a good laugh together. We won't leave it so long until our next meeting.
By the time she left I didn't really feel like carrying on with tidying and sorting the kitchen so that's on the list for this morning. There's also the nutrition focus online class at 11 am, discussing weight loss and healthy eating strategies, but that's the only thing in the diary. It's supposed to be a sunny day so I may go out this afternoon to look for some more photos for the WPSH or for my monthly photo challenge.
It's very pretty, isn't it? Some sort of bulb?

There were bulbs planted there two years ago - pink tulips, summer snowflakes, and snowdrops - but this one doesn't look like any of them and the leaves are very different. It's tiny, the white flower head is only 1½ cms across and it's currently only 2 cms tall.
DeleteIt's very pretty, whatever it is!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a very fun day, yesterday, too, with L visiting for lunch and a long chat. I like your plans for Friday, too. I need to see if I can take a few more pictures for WPSH, myself, before the link up this weekend! Have a great day, Eileen. :)
I had a great day yesterday but I am tired today. I enjoyed my socialising but it hasn't been completely anxiety free and that's taken its toll a little. I doubt I'll go out this afternoon as I really only want to nap!
DeleteI can't help with the name of the plant I'm afraid. Your lunch and time spent with L sounds lovely, having a good laugh is definitely what's needed to boost the spirits. The sun is shining here already and it feels like Spring isn't too far away.
ReplyDeleteThe laughter definitely boosted my spirits and I'm looking ahead to next week to see what I can arrange.
DeleteThere was Spring-like feeling this morning but the wind has started up again which has rather spoiled the feeling!
Can it be a very early tulip?
ReplyDeleteI think the leaves are wrong for tulips and the only tulips planted in that area were pink, not white. It's also so tiny, only 1½ cms across the white flower head and only 2 cms tall. Can tulips be that small?
DeleteI thought your tiny little visitor might be a single crocus or perhaps a tulip - either way I hope it gets to full show. Your in person catch ups are going well. :)
ReplyDeleteThere were no crocuses planted in that bed and the tulips were pale pink, so I have no idea what it is! I'll be checking it daily to see what happens.
DeleteI've really enjoyed catching up with friends.
Out of curiousity I clicked on a search for 'flowers in February UK' and one of the results was a Calla lily. I wonder if one had gone rogue? Something dropped by a wandering squirrel (who can be a menace for bulbs). https://blog.trianglenursery.co.uk/2018/02/02/february-flowers/ Thank you for the photo challenges. It's giving a real boost to my mental health.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestion but I don't think the leaves are right. I've sent a photo to M to see if she knows what it is.
DeleteGlad you're enjoying the photo challenges. I'll put the linky up on Sunday.
It's a lovely little flower - maybe a crocus? Jealous that you have any flowers lol. Snow. Snow and more snow. Lol. I might have to treat myself to some flowers!
ReplyDeleteI think all the crocuses were planted in pots so it shouldn't be one. We've has a reasonably mild winter and definitely no snow ... we'll leave all the cold white stuff to you! Treating yourself to some flowers is an excellent idea. x
