Friday 12th November

It's the 12th day of the programme and today we'll be hearing about the next stage, which is tolerance testing. There was one change announced yesterday which means that we can now eat fruit at any time of the day - previously we'd been asked to limit ourselves to two portions of fruit a day with breakfast. There is still the requirement to have some protein with the fruit to help balance the blood sugar but I'm not sure if it is okay to have more than the two portions now. I'll check later today, but I hope so.

I've acquired some stronger boxes so will get those packed up and sent off today. That'll definitely be three boxes of stuff leaving the house. Looking at what's left I think I was over ambitious to think I'd be able to complete it all by December 1st but I haven't given up yet. I have that extra incentive now as I will need a larger budget for the replacement piano than I'd anticipated - it'll be great if I can finance it from the sales of decluttered items and it feels like an appropriate use of the money, not forgetting that the sales are also financing the replacement fencing as well.

So apart from the trip to the Post Office and the two online classes, the rest of the day is my own. I feel inclined to tackle a bit more of the decluttering, probably re-advertising some of the items that didn't sell and placing first time adverts for a pile of items that will hopefully sell well as Christmas gifts for people interested in Meccano and/or photography.

I'll watch the new series of Dalgliesh tonight. I watched the first two episodes on catch up and it seems to be a complete story over two episodes, so this will be part 2 of the new story - I watched part 1 last night.

  1. I hope you are able to have more than two portions of fruit, now. Well done on all the decluttering! Three boxes leaving the house is wonderful! And if you can fund both the replacement fence and the replacement piano with money made from decluttering, how great is that? Hope you have a lovely day, today. :)

    1. We're supposed to be aiming for a minimum of 2 x fruit and 6 x veg every day which I find easy to achieve but I do like to have more fruit than that, so I hope it's okay to increase the amount.

The decluttering has taken on a new lease of life now I have a proper goal. If I can sell everything I should realise the amount of money I need for both, which'll be great. If not I'll have to buckle down to some serious saving!

Have a look back at the comments on yesterday's post ... there's another birthday greeting for you.

  2. It's still work aiming for Dec 1st - even if you don't quite hit it, you'll have achieved a lot.

How are you feeling on the programme?
    xx

    1. I'm definitely still aiming for Dec 1st but I don't think I'll meet that target ... we'll see how it goes!

I'm actually feeling much better than I have done for a long, long time. My energy levels aren't yet back up to 'normal' but there has been a noticeable improvement and there is some easing of joint pain. The nutritionist thinks it's a strong indication that I am allergic to one or more of the foods I have eliminated so that's what the tolerance testing will show. It's down to caffeine, wheat and white potatoes, all of which I was eating regularly. We were also asked to avoid red meats so I haven't eaten pork, ham, bacon, or lamb either so there is a possibility it could be one of those. I do hope it's not the bacon!! xx

  3. Well done on the decluttering and I agree to keeping to your target date and if you don't quite make it then you will do soon afterwards. You'll have done extremely well to fund the fencing and replacement piano, quite an achievement.

    1. Thanks Eileen. I am still aiming for Dec 1st and will just keep going if I don't meet that date. Most of what's left are the collectors items and specialist pieces which tend to sell for a good price, but it is a case of waiting for the show of interest to get the right price.

  4. I like the idea of a target of $$ as incentive to decluttering. I may tackle some of my things that way; if I sell "x" I can then finance "y" ... I've got my fingers crossed for you that you'll be getting a Santa delivery of a new digital piano for Christmas. It will be interesting to see what if any of the re-introduced foods aren't for you. Happy Weekend.

    1. Much as I'd love to order it straight away, the piano purchase is for next year. The shop in Bath that stocks this brand is out of stock because of all the extra sales during lockdown so I will wait until I can try the piano to see if I like the action, etc.

I'm just waiting for the meeting to start to find out about the tolerance testing.

  6. Good for you on the delucttering! I'm trying, one bit at a time while also clearing through a hoarder's home. Sorting through Jane's place does give me incentive to keep trying as I don't want my relatives to have to be in the position MIL and I are.

    1. My late partner was a hoarder so I understand some of the issues you are dealing with at Jane's home. One bit at a time and you will get there x
