175/365: blueberries

M will be here later to knock the garden into shape. There are four plants to be lifted because they aren't the same colour palette as the rest of the planting and stick out like a sore thumb so they're going next door to S&T. I've been given some gladioli bulbs so they can go in and there are five new plants to be dealt with - the two Japanese Blood Grass will go in pots but I haven't decided on the other three, a gaura and the two agapanthus, so will wait to see what M advices. The final hanging basket arrived yesterday looking a bit bedraggled but it perked up after a drink and is now hanging on the fourth bracket. I think there is room for a couple more perennials so I'll see if M agrees and then nip out to the Nursery to buy them while she's here so they can be planted straight away.

Apart from that, there's nothing else in the diary for today. The nutrition class is cancelled so I'll use the time for some extra piano practice. I have to work out the best position to place my tablet to record my playing (ready for the exam) but my attempts so far haven't been that good ... it either sounds muffled, or is picking up too much bass and the balance is wrong. I'm supposed to record myself playing the three pieces and send them to C to make sure she is happy with the quality of the recording and, if she is happy with it, we can decide when to do the actual exam recording. I'll be glad to get it over and done with now so I can move on to some new music.

After feeling all excited about the Italian class yesterday I heard back from the tutor with the news that there aren't any free spaces and she doesn't know when or if she will be starting another beginners group so I need to make other arrangements and will try one of the groups in Bath. I'm a little disappointed but it's not meant to be and I'm sure one or two of my other options will work out just as well. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to organise it so that the Italian conversation and the piano lesson fall on the same day to save on petrol costs driving to and from Bath.

  1. A shame about the Italian class but maybe there's something better just around the corner.
Good luck with the recording - is that how exams are done at the moment? xx

    1. I'm sure I'll be able to find something suitable in Bath, and it will be much closer so will save on petrol!

I'm not sure if any of the exam boards have returned to in person exams. They switched to online during the pandemic and the board C used is a new one, fully accredited, which only offers recorded submissions. xx

  2. What a shame about the Italian class but as Joy says maybe you will find something else available to you. Your hanging baskets look lovely and I'm glad you have a fourth one now. I didn't know you had blueberries to pick, ooh lovely.

    1. I was disappointed yesterday but am feeling more positive today. I'm sure I'll find something I can enjoy in Bath.

This is the last year for trying blueberries. I never get many so would prefer to use the space for flowers. They'll probably go to my sister.

  3. Your blueberries are looking good! My blueberries are coming to an end.
Hope you are able to get a good recording of your piano playing.
Sorry to hear that the Italian conversation classes are full, but, maybe there might be a more positive outcome with the ones in Bath.
Hope you are able to find the additional plants you want at the garden center. :)

    1. They look good in the photo but they're quite small. The plants are going to my sister and I will stick to flowers!

I didn't get round to doing the recording today so will try tomorrow.

M agreed that there is space for even more plants so I have ordered online to get the varieties we agreed on.

  4. I thought of you when I started watching "Hotel Portofino" so I'm going with the Universe is having you go to Bath for the Italian conversation because in THAT group there will be a lovely lady who owns a small hotel in Italy & invites the whole group to come visit her later in the Autumn & really practice speaking Italian :)
    Have fun plant shopping .

    1. Oh it will be lovely if that could happen. I didn't have time to do anything about it today so will decide which tutor/group to try in Bath and contact them over the weekend.

I've ordered plants online so will be waiting in for a lot more deliveries... I hope they go better this time!

    1. I'll be having a quiet weekend, don't worry. I'm hopeful that I'll find the right class for me in Bath. There are a couple of possibilities so as soon as I decide which one seems best for me I'll contact the group leader.
