167/365: poppies, self seeded in one of the bulbs pots |
This month is really whizzing by, isn't it? I'd set myself the target of completing the remainder of the decluttering by the end of June but that seems unlikely now I've taken this week out to watch the tennis ... and then it's the Eastbourne tournament ... and then it's Wimbledon, so I gave myself a good talking to last night and re-evaluated my priorities. To cut a long story short, the target date has been reset to the end of July and I will enjoy myself watching all the tennis I want to!!
Yesterday's piano lesson was great fun. I ended up surprising myself by playing much better than I had in practice, and I'd been pleased with how I played in practice, and C gave some lovely feedback. I have a couple of new pieces to look at this week - one is a simple duet so I have to learn both parts then record the second part so I can play the duet in the lesson, and I need to pick a new piece which will probably be one of the tunes from my Les Mis book.
Today is an 'at home' day. I'm waiting in for deliveries (plants, laundry bags, polo shirts) and of course it's the tennis this afternoon. There's a bit of deadheading to do in the garden but that's about it really, so a quiet day mostly spent in the cool of the living room ... this is the time of year when I am really glad that my living room is so much cooler than the rest of the house!
It's too hot to be working indoors or out so watching the tennis in the cool of your living room is a winner for sure.
ReplyDeleteIt's too hot for me. I love the sun but struggle in the heat, so will enjoy the coolness indoors. Does the heat affect Tilly?
DeleteBeing black with curly fur I'm aware she will be very uncomfortable in the heat so try to keep her out of the sun as much as I can. She's been to the groomers today.
DeleteI bet she looks gorgeous!
DeleteGood Plann.....Watching the tennis is much more fun than decluttering
ReplyDeleteDefinitely ... much more fun!
DeleteTennis always come first, our sitting room is in the back of the house overlooking our garden, it does not get much sun, so it's always the coolest part of the house. As you say perfect for this time of year.
ReplyDeleteMy living room runs the length of the house so the front window look out to the street and gets the morning sun and the French doors look to the back garden and gets the afternoon sun. That side of the house isn't attached to a neighbour so tends to be cooler which is a blessing in summer but not quite as good in the winter! Enjoy the tennis x
DeleteYour garden looks wonderful, well done on the piano playing, I do miss the times when I just sat and played, this duff arm totally changed my life.. we watch tennis too, wonderful isn't it. Just wish Andy was still playing.
ReplyDeleteThank Chris, the garden gives me a lot of pleasure. I really feel for you no longer being able to play the piano. There's nothing quite like it and, as an interest, it is almost impossible to replace. The tennis is wonderful - it's a great time of year. I miss Andy but have enjoyed watching a couple of other British men.
DeleteWhat lovely poppies. I would love to have some in my garden, but do have a lovely display of the yellow Welsh poppies this year, again self seeded. Enjoy your tennis viewing, the decluttering will wait. Helen S.
ReplyDeleteM is going to save some seeds for me ready for next year. I only want red ones but could maybe be tempted with the yellow ones at a push. Wherever I've seen the yellow ones they look good and I'm sure that's the same in your garden.
DeleteThanks, I will be making the most of the tennis season and if I have to change the target completion date again, so be it!
Let's give a shout out to those self seeders in the garden! What type of poppy are those in your photo? I've tried for years to get my white Oriental Poppies to self seed, no luck. I've even tried the paper bag over the seed head once the petals leave the pod & scattered those in the bag - I got nothing. This Sunday for us all play or work stop for the Canadian Grand Prix (F1). I hope you enjoy the tennis, the decluttering will wait :)
ReplyDeleteI've no idea what sort these ones are. I'll ask M next time she is here.
DeleteWe used to watch all the racing, and have even been to the British Grand Prix, but haven't bothered with it since I've been on my own. I hope you enjoy it 😊
It sounds like a perfect day to me - and well done on the piano lesson. Isn't it great when things go so well. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Joy, and yes it is great when things go well. I wasn't expecting the piano lesson to go half as well as it did but it really was great!
DeleteThose poppies are beautiful! Resetting the target date for being decluttered sounds like a sensible thing to do. Being decluttered is a moving target for me! Enjoy the tennis!
ReplyDeleteWell done on the piano lesson and starting on a new piece!
Enjoy your 'at home' day; hopefully, the parcel you are waiting for will be delivered without further delay.
They are beautiful... I wish I had space to grow lots of them.
DeleteI've stopped feeling anxious now I've reset the target date. It's daft to be getting so worked up about it and I think it's because I'm so close to finishing.
I've had a go at a few of the songs in the Les Mis selection but haven't decided on which one to work on yet . I'm really enjoying the piano at present. Will you resume your lessons soon?
I had another good day, but there was no sign of the parcel!
Those poppies are glorious. I can't fault your priorities either.
ReplyDeleteThere's something about poppies that make me happy! I don't know if I'm making it harder for myself as I will be returning to the decluttering after a few weeks break but it feels like the right thing ... to enjoy the tennis, that is!!
DeleteBeautiful poppies, they almost look like paper to me (which is a high complement.)
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful aren't they?
