112/365: waiting for the show to start

Sandi Toksvig was just as good as I'd hope she'd be ... a very funny lady. We both enjoyed the show and will be looking out for some other shows that we'd like to see. We both wore masks but I only saw three other people with masks. The theatre has a maximum capacity of 1,640 though there were quite a few empty seats, but mask wearers were definitely the minority group!

Today I have one thing to do and then I'm looking forward to a restful day at home. I've arranged to take the books and sheet music to the library and want to do that when they open at 9 o'clock, then it's back home for the nutrition focus class and some much needed piano practice ... I haven't really done enough over the last few days. After that I plan to settle down with a book for the rest of the day, only moving for food or toilet breaks!

I sold one of my items yesterday but the second person didn't show up and hasn't contacted me to reschedule so I'm assuming he was just a time waster. I haven't removed the advert so that item may still sell. I will advertise some more items but probably not today ... I enjoyed the trip to the theatre but it tired me out. For one thing, that's the first time I've been out at night for a social event since early in 2020.

  1. Glad you had a good time! My daughter went to a show at a theater, this evening, with some of her friends and I am waiting to hear all about it! The new case numbers up there are very low and she feels comfortable going out and about. The numbers just doubled overnight, down here, though, and we are back up to 2,100+!

    1. Apart from wearing a mask, it felt like normal times and I had a great evening. I hope your daughter enjoyed her theatre experience as much as I enjoyed mine. Are there delays in reporting where you live? I'm finding it increasingly difficult to have confidence in the numbers now that so many people aren't bothering to test (since LFT now have to be paid for!).

    1. It was a really fun evening and I definitely recommend it. I've just got home from dropping off the books and music so piano practice next and then the rest of the day is to enjoy as I want. It looks like rain so I doubt I'll be going out anywhere which is okay as my book is calling me!

  3. So glad that the live show was what you expected. Let's hope that the virus is on the run from us so we can all get back to a life of similar before COVID, the new BC. We have a neighbourhood F/B group for selling things & I hear it's quite a success, I may check this out for selling a few items I want to declutter but don't want to just give away. Happy Weekend.

    1. We both really enjoyed the show. Just have to hope that the mask did it's job but time will tell whether we've picked up the virus!

Our local Facebook group is good for selling certain items but isn't the right place to sell the more expensive engineering stuff. Good luck with yours though.

  4. I'm glad you enjoyed the night out. It's great that life is starting to feel as normal as possible but I'll be using my face mask for a bit longer...just in case.

It's a pity the buyer didn't turn up and kept you waiting, some people are so annoying.

Enjoy your day at home :)

    1. I enjoyed the night out and feel it was worth the risk ... I'm hoping that wearing my mask has offered enough protection! Are people in your area still wearing masks or just a few. I'm definitely in the minority in this area as most are opting to be mask free.

The buyer is coming later today instead, no explanation for the no show but it's worth it if it gets me another sale.

  5. People are not used to going out the same way, and it tires you out if you're not used to it. Sandi Toksvig always seems incredibly witty to me. I'm glad that you had a good time.

    1. It's made me realise that I need to work on my fitness levels! I agree that Sandi Toksvig is incredibly witty and I think her humour is very clever. The evening was well worth the ticket price.

    1. Live shows are the thing I've missed the most so it was great to be able to kick start that part of my life. I definitely needed the rest today though!

    1. She really was excellent. I like her sense of humour and think her style of comedy is clever and witty rather than shocking. I'll definitely go to see her again.

  8. I agree about Sandi Toksvig and her brand of humour. I appreciate wit and intelligence and she has always made me laugh when I've seen her live. I recall before one recording of QI she asked a member of the audience a question and the girl went to pieces and said "Oh I can't believe I'm talking to you!" Sandi said, "Why, have you taken a vow of silence?" it got a laugh and put the girl at ease. One of my biggest disappointments was going to see Frank Skinner, whose repartee I find excellent on the TV, only for him to swear non-stop for two hours in the theatre. Completely undersold himself. Dara O Briain was another - money for old rope IMO!

    1. I've seen her live before and both times she has more than lived up to my expectations. Another one was Alan Davies who made me laugh so much, it hurt! I've always like Ed Byrne but he was a disappointment when I saw him live and so was Alan Carr ... both very lacklustre performances. Sarah Millican was great live, another very funny lady. x

  9. I've seen Ed Byrne twice. First time my sides ached with laughter. Second time he delivered very interesting monologue but really no humour whatsoever. I wondered if he was still working the material... but it was midway through a tour...

    1. Maybe he was having an 'off night' when I saw him. I've always liked his sense of humour when I've seen him on TV.

    2. Or maybe the time you saw him was the second time I saw him. Loads of observations about bringing up a young child, religious/social commentary associated with that? I seem to recall it all centered on his son's wish to wear pink shoes, and ended with the unveiling of a giant photo of boy in said footwear.

    3. No, that doesn't ring any bells. I can only remember that he went on and on about how stupid he was and all the mistakes he'd made.
