111/365: resisting temptation at the garden centre!

Yesterday's nutrition talk about histamine intolerance was very informative and rang enough bells for me to think I need to delve deeper into the subject. It certainly explains a lot of my ongoing symptoms which are never quite explained or eliminated. For anyone who is interested, this is the recommended website which explains all the symptoms and the food lists, etc. We were told that the book that's mentioned on the site is a hard line approach and a better one was recommended ... but I can't remember the title! I can find out if anyone is interested though.

I met with J in the garden centre café and we had a really good natter. It was just what I need yesterday and a pleasant way to spend the afternoon. We had a look at all the plants before parting company ... I was very good and didn't buy anything, though there was plenty that I liked the look of!

Today has to be an at-home day. I advertised a couple of items for sale as cash on collection and both of those items should be collected this morning. If the interest is genuine and I do sell them, I may be able to buy the trellis planters I want. While I'm waiting I'll try to list a few more things. I've also heard from the library and will be taking the books and sheet music to them tomorrow morning, so by the end of tomorrow I should have created another big space in the house.

It's the Indian cookery class this afternoon and the recipe is Chingri Malaikari (King Prawn Coconut Curry), which sounds lovely and which I'm sure I will be making myself before too long. I'll spend an hour or so in the garage afterwards tidying as best I can, and now it's getting warmer I want to move the garden bench outside again.

The big event of the day is a trip to the theatre with L ... we're off to Bath tonight to see Sandi Toksvig's new show, 'Next Slide Please'.

  1. Glad you were able to resist all the plants at the garden center! :) None of the garden centers here seem to have a cafe!

I hope the sales of your items go through and you will be able to buy your trellis planters! Well done on all the decluttering!

Prawn/shrimp curry is a favorite with us, although I don't really follow a specific recipe.
Hope you have a lovely evening at the theater, Eileen. Enjoy the show and your friend's company. :)

    1. I was very disciplined and only looked at the plants! I like all the garden centre cafes around here - it's a shame you don't have that in your area.

I sold one of the items but the second person didn't show up so I will have to try again! I'll need to make a couple more sales to be able to get the planters now.

I've just watched the curry demo and it looked lovely, so will try it as soon as I can buy some raw prawns. Thanks Bless, I'm excited about going to the theatre again!

  2. I am not that big a fan of curry, but coconut prawn got my attention. Enjoy! Hubby & I are planning to get to the garden center this week for annuals, if it ever stops raining enough to make the trip practical. No need to be mucking around in the mud at the garden center. I am hoping you reap enough from your cast-offs for the trellis planters - as I look forward to every little thing you do in your garden.

    1. The recipe we were shown today has really subtle spicing and a creamy coconut milk gravy, so very different from the usual ones I make. I'll be making it as soon as I can buy some king prawns.

I'm waiting until the middle of May to sort out the annuals. I only sold one of the items so don't have quite enough to buy the planters yet, but it won't be too long before I can place the order.

  3. The King Prawn Coconut Curry sounds delicious. I did wonder if the histamine intolerance could explain your frequent migraines but didn't like to suggest it and I will definitely have a look at the website from your link. Fingers crossed your buyers turn up so you can buy your planters. Enjoy your trip to the theatre, how exciting.

    1. It certainly looked delicious in the demo!

I'm convinced that histamine intolerance explains a lot of my health issues. I need to sit down and go through the site to really understand the issue and see the best way to confirm whether that is the problem. There's no medical test for it so I'm unlikely to get help from the GP on this in the early stages although I will discuss it with him next time I see him.

I only sold one of the items. The second person was a no show so I need to re-advertise that item.

It is exciting and I'm really looking forward to it.

    1. I was very disciplined and only looked! I only sold one of the items so can't buy the trellis planters just yet. I'll advertise some more items tomorrow and hopefully realise the funds that way. xx

  5. Yes well done for resisting more plants, otherwise you'll be de-cluttering the garden soon (lol). Fingers crossed that those items get sold today so you can get the trellis planters ordered. Thanks for histamine link, interesting read/info. I hope you enjoy your show tonight.

    1. I've already decluttered the garden this year (pots and plants to my sister) so I think that help me resist the temptation to buy more.

Only one item sold as the second person was a no show, which is frustrating. Never mind, I can advertise some more things and hopefully they will sell quickly.

Hope you find the link useful. I'm looking forward to tonight's trip out.

  6. Have a great time tonight.

I think that I'll spend some time with the histamine page. My skin and joints are wrecked.
