172/365: dianthus Memories

Today's the big day! I'm seeing A, the personal trainer, this afternoon to discuss my exercise goals and hear how she will be able to help me. I'm looking forward to it, but admittedly with some reservation as this is completely outside of my comfort zone. I do think it's necessary though so will give it my best shot.

That's the only thing in the diary for today. I was supposed to be seeing Joy this morning but she had to cancel so I will use that time to go to the garden centre instead and pick up the other two plants I need. M will be here on Friday to finish off the planting for this year ... the new wooden planters will probably wait until next year now but more about that in my next garden update post.

I have a couple of important phone calls to make today without fail. One is to arrange for the central heating system to be balanced properly and get all of the radiators working again before the winter. Depending on how much that will cost I'll also ask him to sort out the external tap on the back wall of the house and get that working again if I can afford it. The other phone call is to the tax office who kindly sorted out my tax code following my previous conversation with them but who seem to have had second thoughts and are now back to overestimating my income for this Financial Year! At least I have the confirmation of the first mistake in writing so am hoping that it will be easier to get it sorted out this time.

  1. Hope the appointment with the PT goes well and you find A to be someone who is willing to work with you to help you reach your goals. Enjoy your look around the garden center. Good luck with those important phone calls! Especially the one to the tax office!

    1. Thanks Bless. I've spent most of the morning waiting in a phone queue with the tax office so haven't made it to the garden centre yet ... it'll probably be tomorrow now.

  2. Fingers crossed the tax office is reasonable. It's such a pain to have to do this again and again and again, isn't it? xx

    1. It is a pain but it's been corrected again and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it isn't adjusted again xx

  3. We have lived in our house for 18 years and the living room has always been much colder than the other rooms. Not any more! We had to have a new boiler installed a couple of months ago and a genius engineer altered something in the radiators ( not sure what!!!) The living room is now warm! I suppose he must have altered the balance but I only know he is my hero!

  4. Wise in getting the heating sorted before you need it. Good luck with A the P.F.T. & most definitely sending good vibes as you once again deal with a government department (col).

    1. The tax problem has been sorted so hopefully that's the end of it. I will check my online record at the end of next month just to be sure that there are no further incorrect adjustments.

I let you all know how I get on with the PT in tomorrow's post.

    1. Thanks re the photo.

HMRC is a frustrating dept to deal with but, ever the optimist, I hope they get it right and it stays right this time.

I won't give anything away about the PT except to say it was great 😀

  7. Good luck with the fitness trainer. I must admit that it isn't something I like. I enjoy going for my walks, but that's about the extent of my exercise. I've never liked doing any ever since we were forced at school to do it.

    1. It's more a thing I need to do to sort out the problems with my knee and that's affecting my ability to do a lot of the things I want to do. The fact that I actually enjoyed it is a bonus! It's not at all like the sort of things we were made to do at school, which is a relief ... I understand exactly what you mean there!

  8. I'm just catching up and pleased to know your session with the personal trainer went well. The tax office don't get me started, I need to try and phone them myself but the hanging on the phone just racks up my phone bill.

    1. Hi Eileen, it was a good start to what I hope will be some help in regaining the strength and flexibility I desperately need.

I despair about the tax office. Good luck in sorting out your problem.
