209/365: displaying my new picture on the picture shelf |
The new picture arrived yesterday. It's one of Lady Ella's photos of Japanese acer leaves and it has pride of place on the picture shelf. I love it! It's the first thing I see when I walk into the room and it makes me smile every time I see it, so many thanks to Lady E.
The new picture was the highlight of a rather odd sort of day. I started listening to the nutrition advice about migraines but had to log out of the class as L phoned and needed to talk. The subject will feature again in the future so I will get another opportunity to listen to the advice then, but L's needs took priority. We'd finished talking by the time my piano lesson was due to start so I was able to do that and surprisingly it went really well. That's when it all changed direction because I fell asleep after lunch and stayed asleep for about four hours so I didn't make a start on displaying my treasures.
I didn't sleep too well as a result of sleeping all afternoon so it's going to be an easy-ish day. I would normally do a couple of sets of exercises today but Amy wants me to rest my knee and wait until the weekend so I'll use that time to do some extra piano practice instead. Today's important tasks are to juggle my finances and work out when I can buy the dining table and chairs, and I also want to start meal planning for August and put together a shopping list which has to include some items for restocking. I think August is going to be an expensive month!
Sometimes months just go like that, don't they? Ups and downs.
ReplyDeleteThe picture is stunning. Have you thought of getting some of your photos on canvas - they are very good. xx
Thanks Joy I have though about getting some of mine printed up, possibly to display in a line below the picture shelf. It's quite low down on the list but I'll get to it eventually.
DeleteI like the picture but more interested in looking at the books!
ReplyDeleteI thought you'd like the books. The ones piled on top of the bookcase will be donated to the library ... all crime novels. The top two shelves in the bookcase are fiction and the bottom shelf is non fiction, mostly genealogy, local history, or photography books.
DeleteA beautiful picture. I'm glad your piano lesson went well. You must have needed the sleep and I hope your body gets back into it's rhythm again soon, take it easy.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture and am so grateful that Lady Ella gave her permission for me to get it printed ... she can certainly take a great photo!
DeleteIt was probably the after effects of not sleeping as well as usual during the heatwave and it all catching up with me. It won't take too long to get back in the rhythm.
Indeed a beautiful photo. Hope all is well with L & that having your attention made her feel better for it. I hope you have a good day, maybe a day to practice your piano :)
ReplyDeleteI say thank you on behalf of Lady Ella as all the credit goes to her.
DeleteL is fine, thanks for asking, and we'll catch up properly next week.
I've been really good and have been practicing properly so far 😊
What a beautiful picture. It looks lovely on the wall.
ReplyDeleteIt's just the right place for it. The credit for the picture goes to Lady Ella ... I'm just grateful she allowed me to have a copy of it.
DeleteThat is indeed a very beautiful picture! It looks good on your picture shelf. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are a good friend, Eileen. I hope L is feeling better for having spoken with you.
I'm glad your piano lesson went well and you are resting your knees. The afternoon nap was probably something you really needed.
I hope the rest of the day has gone well.
It is a beautiful picture and I wish I'd taken it myself but the credit has to go to Lady Ella.
DeleteL is doing okay thanks and we're hoping to meet up next week.
My knee is still painful but there's an improvement on how it was during the PT session. Resting for a couple more days should see it back to how it usually is.
Glad you are pleased with it. It looks as if they have printed the colours accurately. Which firm did you use? I'm interested to know how deep the canvas is and what options you had for the edges. You don't seem to have lost any of the picture around the outside so I assume they didn't just fold the sides down ... so were they mirrored or stretched or something else? (Assume you can interpret that..!) Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love it and thank you again for allowing me to get it printed.
DeleteI used my-picture.co.uk. it's the first time I've used them and was pleased with the finished result. It's the default settings so a 2cm depth canvas with stretched sides but there were other options, e.g. folded corners. When you load the copy of your photo you can see how it fits to the canvas and with this one I didn't lose any of the image. I used a sale offer so the 40 x 30 CMS canvas only cost me £11 plus £6 postage. I'd be happy to use them again depending on how their non sale prices compare.
Thanks, as it happens I have used them a few times, and been pleased. Once they printed something up really dark and another time, when I had ordered a set of four pics, two of the canvases were warped and didn't lie flat against the wall. But both times they were quick and efficient about rectifying the problems.
DeleteYou may find that they send you lots of offers by email for a while. Don't delete them too quickly as they will suddenly stop sending them and the offers (IIRC) are valid for quite a long time.
I have had lots of emails from them but have deleted most of them. If I get any more I'll read them properly but I doubt I'll be buying anything else from them just test as I have a table and chairs to buy!
DeleteThat pic is lovely, and is earning its pride of place. I too, being nosy about the books, spy an Anthony Horowitz, he is definitely on my TBR list. And Harlen is a fave of my as well.
