PT was a much more intense session yesterday so I am feeling a bit achy this morning, but in a good way. There's definitely no pain and I'm sure the aches will wear off as the day progresses ... I may be feeling ever so slightly smug!
There are only two things in the diary for this morning, leaving the rest of the day free. It's the nutrition class first, talking about snacking, picnics and eating on the go, and that's followed by my piano lesson. It's one of those weeks where I have practiced properly but can't see that it sounds any better, so hopefully C will be able to hear something that I can't!
I've decided that I need to start thinking about the clothing situation. I cleared out a lot during the lockdowns but haven't replaced anything so I currently don't have that much I can wear out and I can see that causing problems. So ... I've set aside some money to remedy that and will be looking to buy a small selection of separates that I can mix and match to create three or four new outfits. I'll have a look around Matalan this afternoon to see what's available ... I'm not even sure what this seasons colours are and whether they will be the right colours for me so I may be in for a shock. I don't plan to buy anything today, I want to look round all the other shops over the next few days and make a note of the things I like and which I'll be able to create outfits from, and then buy everything in one big shopping spree. I'm not going to think about shoes or sandals just yet, lets get the clothes sorted first!
I've found Matalan clothes very hardwearing. Their school uniform lasts much better than M&S. I've found some comfy clothes in Morrisons as well, but they bobble very quickly. Have fun looking - it's a challenge to get good outfits together!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realise Morrisons sells clothes but maybe none of their local shops are big enough for that. It did however remind me that there's also the Asda clothing range to consider. I like the quality of the Matalan clothing so am hoping I will find some items in their range
DeleteMatalan is one store I never go to yet I complain about the lack of clothes stores where I live so it'll be interesting to read what you think of this season's offerings. I hope you feel less achy by this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteI like the Matalan clothing so am hopeful that I'll find something I like. You should give it a try if you have one near you, you may be pleasantly surprised. I'll let you know tomorrow what I think of their current selection.
DeleteYou are totally entitled to feel smug. A bit of good ache is very positive.
ReplyDeleteGood luck at Matalan. Do you have a Sainsbury's that sells Tu clothing local to you? I think they have some nice stuff in right now and not too shockingly expensive either. Also, some M&S stuff can be surprisingly affordable and good quality
And good luck with the piano lesson too.
xx
I'm counting the aches as a sign that I've made the effort!!
DeleteYes we have Tu clothing, and also F&F at Tesco and in the next town there's George at Asda. The McCalls shop that I really liked closed during lockdown but I think there may still be a branch in Devices so will drive over to see. It's strange that most of the clothing locally is sold in the supermarkets!
When I read 'PT', I had a mental picture of school playgrounds and dresses tucked in knickers and doing star jumps!! Took me a second to think 'Personal Training'!
ReplyDeleteHaha, tucking dresses in knickers brings back memories.
DeleteThe dahlias are beautiful! A little aching means that your muscles have had a good workout! Hope the piano lesson goes well! And good luck with the clothes shopping! :)
ReplyDeleteSadly the piano lesson is cancelled today. C messaged to say she has a migraine.
DeleteI love these dahlias ... now you've seen them you can understand how I couldn't resist buying them!
The aches are a good reminder that I have worked out ... I also slept very well!
Well done on the PT front! Would you mind sharing what sort of exercises you're doing, please? I'd love to be brave enough to use a PT!! Also, did he/she come recommended? Best wishes going forward and enjoy your clothes shopping, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you. She didn't come recommended. I chose her from a search I did of local personal trainers and she stood out for me as she mentioned that she specialises in adapting the training to accommodate old injuries, recovery from surgery, etc. Bear in mind that the exercises I am doing are chosen for my current needs so this wouldn't necessarily be how everyone starts but in the sessions we do a variety of rowing movements using weights, some bending exercises to strengthen and stretch the back, balancing on one leg, standing from seated without using arms to assist, using the step board leading with my weakest leg ... all sometimes with weights and sometimes without. She's said that next week she'll add some new exercises so I don't get bored. I noticed that quite a few of the personal trainers offered a free trial session so it may be worth looking to see if that's available where you live. I'd definitely recommend it.
DeleteBeautiful photo of the lovely pink dahlia. Well done with A, the PT; this is probably long term one of your best investments into your well being. Oh I do did to get some new clothes but I'm in the midst of that promise to loose the covid19 I put on over the last 2 1/2 years! We (I) need to clone A & ship the clone over across the pond to me :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary-Lou. Oh, definitely one of my best investments ever, except for maybe the piano of course! I've decided that I won't wait for the weight loss but will buy enough new clothes for tide me over. It's more important for me to feel comfortable about socialising at the moment and the clothing is a big part of that. Have a look on YouTube ... there's lots of personal training videos on there ... A is mine!!!
DeleteLike you I have got rid of lots of clothing, I am now down to one wardrobe. I am also finding my self a bit short of going out clothing. I hadn't thought of Matalan, I have had PJs from there and they are lovely fit. I used to buy lots from Debenhams, but they are not the same now and are online, I like to try clothing on. M & S have some nice things currently. I am looking for jeggins and maybe a skirt, probably black or Navy. Let us know how you get on in Matlan. Helen S.
ReplyDeleteI like Matalan's clothing so am hopeful about finding something I like. Debenhams had lovely clothes but I always found it difficult to get anything to fit me properly from there. M&S are good and I usually find something I like there but their nearest clothes store is in Bath so I will probably resort to buying online from them ... too many tourists in Bath at this time of the year! Good luck finding your jeggins and skirt.
