201/365: petunias

Today can only be better! The weather can trigger migraines for me and that's what happened yesterday. I took the meds as soon as I felt it bubbling away behind my eyes and they did their job in part, removing the pain but leaving all the other symptoms. I held out till mid afternoon and then took myself off to bed for the rest of the day. I feel completely drained today, but thankfully am free of all symptoms, so a restful day will see me back to normal. I cancelled my piano lesson yesterday when I thought I'd still be laid low today so at least I don't have that to worry about.

It's the nutrition club this morning. The topic is a research roundup, which is usually very interesting, but I may give it a miss today ... the less screen time, the better the way I'm  feeling. There's nothing else in the diary so I can have an easy day.

I did spend some time looking for a replacement dining table and have drawn up a short list. For the time being I'll bring one of the tables down from the playroom (once the new units are fitted) as it's a similar size to one of the tables on the short list, so a good starting point to see how it fits and works in the room. I also ordered a new canvas print for the picture shelf ... it's one of Lady Ella's images of maple leaves.

Hopefully the forecast for today will be correct and the temperature will drop by at least 10°c, but most of all I hope we get the promised rain ... the garden needs it.

  1. Do rest and take it easy today and I hope you feel better soon.. Sorry to say it's still hot here today, it's 25.5c in my living room, it was 29c last night with two fans going. You did the best thing going to bed yesterday, I had just a niggling headache and was in bed by eight o'clock. The garden definitely needs a good downpour of rain, all the grass here is looking scorched.

    1. I don't plan to do much today at all, just read, eat and sleep! It's much cooler here than your temperatures but you've had it hotter than us all the time, haven't you. It's currently 21°c in the living room and that's without having the fan on. I hope your headache has gone today.

    1. Thanks Bless. Read, eat, and sleep is all I plan for today. And drink plenty of course. I watered the garden first thing so there's nothing else that needs to be done and I can just relax.

  3. So sorry to hear that the intense heat caused a migraine.
I can no longer find Lady Ella's blog, I miss reading her writings and seeing her lovely photos. Has she changed her blog name, I wonder?

    1. Thanks Carole, luckily it wasn't too severe.

Lady Ella is still blogging under the same name but her blog is now private. I will mention that you would like to continue reading her posts.

  4. Glad you were able to get on top of the migraine for the most part. The heat & humidity does slyly take a lot out of people. We had a power outage yesterday & the heat & humidity fast became over whelming, I lay down & before I knew it I had a little nap & felt less drained ... power came back on shortly afterwards - never so thankful for the power crews working to fix. Yes I know the leaf photo you are taking about - it's goregous & I am sure Lady Ella will be chuffed as little mint balls over this selection :)

    1. I'd be a complete wreck if we had to deal with these temperatures all the time but I am feeling better today thanks. I hope you enjoyed your siesta and the power wasn't out for too long.

I loved the photo as soon as I saw it and Lady Ella was kind enough to let me have a copy of her digital file. I was going to print it myself but then saw a special offer to get it printed on canvas and thought I'd try that instead.

    2. I do hope it comes out all right (and doesn't make you think of me every time you look at it!) ;o)

    3. It's going to be lovely. I've made a space for it on the picture shelf so I will see it and think about you every time I walk into the dining room! 🤭

  5. That sounds rough and I'm glad you're feeling a lot better today. It's much fresher and nicer here so I hope it's also better your way too.
Take it slowly and easily and put yourself first today. xxx

  6. Hello Eileen
So glad you are feeling better after your migraine and enjoying the cooler weather. Today we are also having a nicer day, we even had some rain in the morning.

It's lovely to open your blog every day and see the beautiful flowers from your garden and read your posts. As I told you, I can't leave any comments if I'm using my phone, I don't know why. Something happened, I suppose I clicked a button I shouldn't have and now it doesn't let me leave comments. I have to use my laptop but I don't often switch it on during the school holidays. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that one of my favourite things is to read your blog every day. I can't wait to see the new furniture in your dining room!

I hope this horrible heatwave doesn't last long and we all can enjoy nicer weather!
    Take care :)

    1. Thanks Irene. It's always lovely to hear from you and you have definitely cheered me up by saying that reading my blog is one of your favourite things. Is the commenting issue something to do with not having a Google profile on your account? My blog is set to only allow comments from Google accounts.

If all goes well there will be a post about the dining room on Monday. It's much cooler today, still 25°c which is warmer than I like but still cooler than the last two days. We just need some of the promised rain now.
